You can access the Agent Helper tool via the Atoms Menu: Atoms > Tools > Agents Helper Tool.
Alternatively, you can use the shelf button Image Modified

This tool will help you applying animation clips or variations to the agents you have selected in the viewport.
The content displayed in the clips and variations list comes from your scene and variation jsons.



On the top of the UI users can find:

  • a search section that will help you find your clips or variations inside the UI.
  • an option button where users can: change the icon size; enable/disable the automatic creation of thumbnails (thumbnails are generated automatically when the user expands the collapsible boxes); activate the "rewind on change" action (mainly used when applying clips); "Use all agent groups" (by default this tool only works on the selected agent group, if this option on the tool will work with all the selected agents in the viewport - from all groups).
  • a refresh button to populate again the clips and variations list. again

Variations and clips will be are displayed inside the bottom lists. To apply a clip or variation, select one or more agents in the viewport and left-click on a clip or variation.
Right-click on any button to see the animation/variation on preview widget on the right preview widget. If you are not happy with the button previews, you can adjust the camera on the right preview widget and click on the "Generate Previews" button to re-create all the previews for the given agent type or only the current one.

Please note, your agent groups will need to have a clipReader or stateMachine module when applying clips or the variations module when applying variations.

If you don't have thumbnails for your clips or variations, a standard icon will be is displayed.
Thumbnails for variations can be create created automatically with the Variation Builder from version 2.0.

Note

When applying clips:

  • if your agent group has a stateMachine module, the tool will try to find the right state for the clicked clip. The clip won't be applied if an appropriate state won't be found.
  • The clips will be applied only on compatible agents.


Note

Please make sure not to double click on collapsible box headers the first time they are expanded, or thumbnails won't be applied to the clip/variation buttons (Qt issue).
